CHILDREN AND FAMILIES:
When working with children and their families, I use Violet Oaklander's model of Gestalt Play therapy, which includes projective play via sand tray, clay therapy, puppet play and drawing. In addition, I use these modalities to address aggressive energy and appropriate contact function. In the words of Violet Oaklander, "I do not ;fix' kids". Instead, I work to help children explore a deeper sense of themselves and integrated the happenings of the world around them. I work closely with parents to ensure a level of consistency and work toward catering to the family system.
ADOLESCENT:
The therapeutic process with adolescents begins by engaging each individual, establishing his or her specific goals for treatment and "meeting them where they are". While, I often work collaboratively with parents, the nature of this work tends to be much more independent with teenagers. It's important for me to encourage adolescents to be their own best advocate, even when approaching their parents. With this said, I am available for consultation with schools, educational therapists, psychiatrists and physicians when appropriate.
ADULTS:
I offer individual psychotherapy for adults struggling with a wide range of issues some of which include depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, parent/child relationship, sense of self, identity development, and social skill development. I encourage collaborative work with adults who are committed to engaging in the process and improving their mental health.
